Welcome To Kara's Korner
Happy December! What a fun month to decorate and get ready for
Christmas.
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and enjoyed your decorated
tables.
(see our November newsletter.) I removed
our pressed leaves from our
dinning room table and replaced them with Christmas cards we have
been receiving.
With this being a busy month for shopping, holiday parties, decorating
and baking
I wanted to make something simple, yet easy and elegant looking.
A gift idea that I could also give away to family and friends. I
thought Ornaments for the Christmas tree was a perfect idea. I went
to a craft store and purchased some plain clear glass Christmas
bulbs, a bottle of Mod Podge glue (a waterbase sealer, glue and
finish for all surfaces that dries clear). Last I bought two very
small paintbrushes. Then it was time to go through all my beautiful
pressed flowers from summer. It is best to choose smaller flowers
such as Verbena, Purple Lobelia,Viola, Buttercup and Queen Anne's
Lace just to name a few. The smaller the flower the easier it will
be to decorate your ornament. Lay out all your flowers on your workspace.
I found it was easier to put a hook or ribbon on the Christmas bulb
to hang onto while I began to add my pressed flowers. Next dab your
paintbrush with the Mod Podge glue and dot some on your bulb. Then
gently pick up your pressed flowers and place them on the glue.
Use your creativity to randomly place your flowers on your bulb.
Once all your flowers are on your bulb then lightly cover your entire
bulb with the Mod Podge glue covering all the flowers and bulb.
Hang to dry. Once dried the glue will turn from white to clear and
you will have your elegant Christmas tree ornament.

There are so many wonderful ideas you can do with pressed flowers
and foliage. If you need a good Christmas gift idea for someone
I would recommend our Cinch Flower press kit. There still is time
to order as we ship FAST the very same day you order. Take a look
at some of our beautiful mahogany hand made flower presses with
silk screen artwork of the late Mary L. Bradley. Not only do they
press flowers but also they are so beautiful they can be displayed
in the home on a coffee or end table or hung on the wall if you
choose to purchase a wall press. We even offer free gift-wrap to
make your shopping even easier. We can ship to you or your special
someone. To see our flower presses:
