Welcome To Kara's Korner
February is one of my favorite months. I love Valentine's Day!
Heart shaped boxes of candy, beautiful flowers and giving Valentine
Cards. A special day to remember our loved ones.
Remember when we were kids, being in school and exchanging Valentine
cards? Picking out that perfect card for the person we had a crush
on
Oh how it had to say just the right words! Then the big
decision if we should write
From or Love or just sign our
name. The excitement of opening up our own cards wondering what
kind of card THEY gave us
if THEY wrote From or Love or just
signed their name. Just the other day our daughter Kami told me
Valentine's Day is one of her favorite holidays. She even has a
special box in her room where she saves all her Valentine cards
from past Valentine days. Each year Kami looks forward to her classroom
party and giving and receiving Valentines. My almost 90 year old
grandma's eyes light up with joy and she gets a big smile on her
face when she talks about Valentine's day as a child. In her days
they made special Valentine boxes to hold all their homemade Valentine
cards they exchanged in school. Young and old we all have our special
Valentine memories.
Homemade Valentine Cards

With this busy world today who takes the time anymore to make a
homemade Valentine card for that someone special? This year I decided
to make my own cards.
What fun I had making my own cards. As I worked on each card I
thought of the special person I would give it to. So fun and easy
too! You can buy blank cards to decorate or pick out some fun colored
paper 8 1/2 X 11 size at a stationery, craft or scrap booking store.
You can make a French fold out of your 8 1/2 X 11 size paper by
simply placing the paper in front of you lengthwise. Then take the
bottom of the paper and fold it upward in half. Turn your paper
lengthwise again and fold from the bottom upward one more time.
Now you have your card. Next, decorate the front of your card. Add
some cut out heart shapes. For those of you into "Stamping"
cards, use your fun Valentine related stamps. To add romance and
bring your card to life
add some beautiful pressed flowers.
When adding your flowers it is best to add them last and apply them
with just a dab of clear glue. If you use too much glue your flower
will fold and may rip. It is best to add your small dab of glue
to your card then carefully place your flower on top of the glue
and gently press down. Pressed flowers are very delicate so take
your time when applying them to your card. If you need to mail your
card then you will want to use an envelope the size of your card.
Homemade cards made from the heart are always a big hit.
