Welcome To Kara's Korner
Happy New Year! 2003 what a great year this will be!
We sure had a wonderful Christmas and hope you all did too. I made
quite a few Christmas ornaments for family and friends. Everyone
LOVED them!

Beautify your candles and candle holders
Here are two easy ways to apply pressed flowers to your candles.
Mod Podge glue (A waterbase sealer, glue and finish for all surfaces
that dries clear) or use some clear contact paper. So easy! If using
the Mod Podge glue, first dab some glue on the end of your paint
brush then on your candle. Next, arrange your pressed flowers on
your candle. Lastly, paint over your flowers with a thin coat of
the Mod Podge glue and let dry. When using the clear contact paper,
cut out the size you need. Peel back the contact paper, apply the
flowers leaving a healthy border of contact paper to stick to your
candle. Place the contact paper on your candle and gently rub from
center outward. Remember to place your flowers so they will appear
right side up. To make your decorated candle last longer you can
hollow out part of your candle at the top and then just drop in
a tealight candle to burn. You will actually be burning a tealight
candle, yet it will look like you are burning your larger decorated
candle. Please note, do not decorate taper candles or candles that
will liquefy when you burn them.
Do you know of anyone getting married this year? Make a beautiful
unity candle for the bride and groom with pressed flowers.
Candle holders are also fun to decorate. I picked up these two
candle holders for just $1.00 each at a local discount store. I
dressed them up with pressed flowers using clear contact paper.
I like to use tealight candles in them. They are so beautiful with
the candlelight shining through the glass making the pressed flowers
glow.

In the picture: On the red candle, I used clear contact paper
along with the two glass candle holders in the middle. The far right
smaller candle I used the Mod Podge glue.
