Welcome To Kara's Korner
April showers bring May flowers. Spring is here and summer is just
around the corner. Time to enjoy all our beautiful flowers we grow
in our yard.
This is a great time of year to display your freshly cut flowers
from your yard into your home. I decided to decorate two of my old
plain vases with some pressed flowers to give them a new look. See
photos below.

In my first vase I have some sweet smelling very fragrant fresh
cut lilacs along with some purple columbines. My favorite!

The second vase I used an arrangement of silk flowers with some
white tooling. The tooling gives my clear vase a soft romantic look.
It also hides the stems so they do not take away from my delicate
pressed flower designs. I like to use a combination of silk and
fresh cut flowers throughout my home during the spring and summer
months.
To decorate a vase with your pressed flowers you will need:
A smooth plain vase, pressed flowers, clear contact paper and a
pair of scissors.
When you start your project make sure your vase is clean and dry.
First, lay out all your pressed flowers in front of you to decide
what kind of design you will want to create on your vase. Start
with your first flower and cut a piece of clear contact paper about
½ inch larger then your flower. Peel back the paper and gently
place your pressed flower with the front of the flower facing down
on the sticky contact paper. Once your flower is safely on the contact
paper you can trim the excess contact paper with your scissors.
Leave a good healthy edge around your flower. Lastly, place your
flower onto your vase and smooth out any wrinkles or bumps in the
contact paper with your fingers. Do this with each one of your pressed
flowers until your design is on your vase. So easy and fun to do!
The contact paper will help seal your flowers onto your vase, however
do not run your vase through the dishwasher. If you need to wash
your vase, hand wash with care. If you ever get tired of your flower
design or wish to have a plain vase again you can simply just peel
off the contact paper.
Have fun and enjoy! What a conversation piece your new vase will
become.
God bless,
Kara
